Pamela Tibbs was born in 1981 and spent an eclectic childhood living in Greece, USA, Australia and England. As a child, she developed an interest in fashion and art, influenced by her mother who studied woven textile design and her family, who were involved in art and design fields.

After graduating from Middlesex University with a BA in Constructed Textiles in 2006, Pamela was drawn to designing contemporary fashion fabrics, which led her to attend the Royal College of Art in 2006 to study an MA in Woven Textiles. Through her love of structure and intricate pattern, Pamela began to focus her attention on menswear. Pamela is now in the unique position of being the only student in her year graduating with a collection of menswear fashion fabrics in her course.

While studying, Pamela further honed her craft by working with the design team at Stephen Walters & Sons Ltd silk mill, which was key in cementing her resolve to design menswear fabrics whilst gaining invaluable experience of the textiles industry. While working at Stephen Walters & Sons Ltd she helped create fabrics for their array of clients, which include Ralph Lauren, Alexander McQueen, Gucci and Hermes.

An avid follower of trends, Pamela’s desire in her

current graduate collection was to create fabrics for the high-end menswear market that combine luxury, elegance with everyday wearability in four colour stories. The fabrics in her range have been designed for suits, shirts, coats and accessories such as ties and scarves.

Her collection pays homage to traditional menswear textiles yet on closer inspection reveals playful pattern and repeat designs. Pamela drew inspiration from crystals, focusing on their structure, growth lines and the gently embedded movement created within the material. She experimented with its unique patterns, colours and lustre as the basis of her collection.Pamela believes that desirable menswear fabrics rely on detail and handle so she only used sumptuous yarns such as soft angora, merino, silk wool blends, cashmere and spun & floss silk. There is a rich colour palette throughout the collection such as maroon, navy, royal blue, and amber, which is punctuated by bursts of colour.Pamela’s ambition is to create super-luxe fabrics for high-end menswear designers who design clothing for the sophisticated and stylish modern man.
